Completion of Corporate Program for MediaArts Company
19/07/2008
On July 17–19, an official completion of the course for top management of the MediaArts company took place. It is hard to believe, but the 7-module corporate program ‘Effective Management’ now came to its end.
The last module of the program was about the role of a leader and a manager. On the first day Pavlo Sheremeta, the Dean of kmbs, informed the participants about functions of a leader. It was a good opportunity to reappraise one’s managerial experience and to think out what could be changed or improved in their organizations. Quite vivid discussion was caused by a topic of managerial trap. A lot was told about roles and styles of management, depending on functions and stages of organization’s development; about the importance of changes, paying attention to their main driving forces as well as to roles of manager and leader in carrying them out.
On the second day, the participants had classes given by Anatolii Neyolov, director of an improvisational theatre ‘Black Square’ and professor of acting technique at kmbs. Anatolii told about the behavior that one is “acting out” as a manager, and revealed its subtle details. To set a goal, organize the process and achieve a good result, manager has to act simultaneously as three persons: an actor, a director and a playwright. Some interesting parallels were drawn between theatre and business, forming the basis for practical exercises having to do with motivation and communication, oratorical skills and actor’s gift. All this not only helped understanding of the central idea of the classes, but also inspired the audience to approach their activities creatively.
The culmination of the program was the defense of three master projects on development of communication strategies and introducing new products to the market, having such subjects as starting a new magazine in the Ukrainian market; the whole set of services for promotion of a new service–no-purpose loan; carrying out a Through The Line campaign of a new brand of juices for children. The projects defense lasted almost whole day; kmbs professors and the company managers asked a lot of questions, provoked discussions and debates. It was really hot, but helpful indeed!
We sincerely congratulate all the participants with the completion of the ten-month program. The kmbs team wishes them strength and inspiration for creating new products that would become a breakthrough in the Ukrainian market!
