First Steps of Mediation in Ukraine!

Head of the Ukrainian Center of Mediation at kmbs Galyna Yeremenko took part in a workshop on alternative dispute resolution [ADR]. The workshop was held in Sarajevo [Bosnia] supported by the International Finance Corporation [a World Bank Group].

Participants from Bosnia, Croatia, Albania, Macedonia and Ukraine discussed the state of development of ADR in whole and mediation in particular, designing of learning programs, as well as shared their experience in effective implementation of culture and mechanisms of mediation in Balkan countries. The program was moderated by Melissa Manwaring, Professor of Harvard Law School.

Mediation is a method of dispute resolving where a third party is called for to help the disputants to set up the process of communication and analyzing of the conflict situation so that they themselves become able to find and choose the way of conflict settling that would satisfy interests and needs of all the parties involved.
