Master's project

In order to earn your EMBA diploma at kmbs you have to defend a Master's Project. The project takes form of real-life consultancy of a company or an NGO of your choice. The biggest challenge but also a reward of the consultancy project is that you should not only give change-management advice to the company but also walk your client through at least the first steps of your reengineering scheme.

We want you to strengthen your analytical and research skills using the example of a living, breathing and throbbing business situation. The project may be submitted individually or by groups of up to three participants

Ideally, the company or the NGO you will choose to investigate and analyze should be based in Ukraine. If not, it should have a business interests linkage to Ukraine or to Eastern & Central Europe.

Your task is to come up with one or more development strategy[ies] for your client. We would like you to incorporate the knowledge and the techniques you will have obtained during your EMBA courses into your proposal.

The Master's Project will be assessed both by the company and two kmbs professors. In the past, we have very much favored projects, which brought EMBA participants a consultancy fee or even a bonus, as that signals to us your real contribution to your client.

It is worth mentioning that you retain the copyright of your Master's Project.

Examples of successful Master's Projects

The Master's Project that “won the Oscar” during December 2002 series of defenses was “Planning Process: Development Strategy of OJSC Farmak” presented by a group of EMBA participants.

In June 2003 two EMBA participants carried out the “Electric Panels Market Entry Strategy for Kakhovsky Electric Welding Equipment Plant [KZEZO]”. The company started implementing ideas, proposed by the EMBA participants, already in the process of consulting. The examination committee was excited to find out that the plant director, Yaroslav Mykytyn, had already implemented a large part of the suggestions when the Master's Project defense took place.

Among best works of 2004 project of Vadym Utkin "Managerial Accounting in Professional Service Companies [for company Innoware]" and group project of Kostiantyn Kolesov and Alisa Karpovych "Development Strategy Variants for Kirovograd Building Materials Factory ¹1" should be listed.

During defenses in January, 2005, commission highly evaluated projects 2 projects: "Development Strategy for "First Leasing Company" Leasing Projects" by Svitlana Shvydun and Anatoliy Diuba and "Development Strategy for "Krymkhlib" by Dmytro Shulmeister and Olga Gordusenko. Project of Yaroslav Ruschyshyn - "Strategy for Entering Ukrainian Market for PS Logistic [Sweden]" is also a good example of a thorough project [defended in June, 2005].

Among projects which were defended in the very beginning of 2006, two can be called indeed one of best: "Creating "Mushrooms Company" - Leading Ukrainian Producer of Mushrooms under Veres TM in Ukraine" by Yuriy Nesterov and Inna Tkachenko, and "Entering Ukrainian Market Strategy on Consumer Credit Market" by Olena Popova.
